Dear To me

Deer To Me, 2006, C-Print, 20 x 20 inches

’ÄúDear To Me’Äù is a solo exhibition of photography by Jen Siska. This show is a visual diary of her life over the past couple of years. Each photograph embodies people, places or spaces that fascinate and intrigue her. For Siska, the simple things in life, many times overlooked, are always the most beautiful and dear to her. Siska photographs her subjects in unglamorous, everyday settings, using only natural light. She embraces the reality of each space and subject, exposing it for what it is. This method of creating from what is given is what stimulates and inspires her. ’ÄúDear To Me’Äù not only represents what is most cherished in the relationship with her subject, but also a cherished reflection of her dual nature in photography; a frenetic collage of environment mixed with the simplicity of human emotion.

Jen Siska was born in rural Illinois and studied photography and fine art at the Art Institute of Atlanta. She currently lives and works as a commercial photographer in San Francisco, and has exhibited her fine art photography at the Kirkeby Gallery, The Sandbox Gallery and Belcher Studios in San Francisco. Her work has been featured in Readmade Magazine, XLR8R, Make Magazine and Jane Magazine.
